Education

Over the last 4 years we have seen significant growth in the numbers of children being cared for and the original site has expanded to include additional permanent and temporary classroom space as it has been part of our vision to provide our own education for the children.

All education in Kenya needs to be paid for, so many who join our family have had no previous education and need an environment that permits them to start schooling no matter what their age. When they complete High School they need to go on to college or even university or carry on with vocational training that suits their abilities. We do however need to raise funds for these vocational posts - we need to establish micro-businesses for the non-academic and as little as 100GBP can set somebody up with their own business. We also need sponsors to assist the home to support students who have achieved high grades to progress on to college or university. This is nowhere near as expensive as it is in the UK, college is usually 350GBP per term and university is 500GBP per term.

Our schools are registered with the local authorities and run by Covenant’s own teaching staff to ensure high standards of education and a caring approach to the students. The primary and secondary schools are also open to local children.

At the present time we have 93 children in High School, 5 in University and 8 in Colleges studying a range of courses including Medical, Teacher Training, Business Management, Accounts and Electrical Engineering.

Our schools are well respected locally with the Secondary School achieving 13th position out of 45 schools locally and the Primary School achieving 3rd out of 18.
