How you can help

There are several ways in which you can get involved and help the children at Covenant yourself - and suprisingly enough they do not all involve you giving money (although we can not do without this either!). A few of these are described below:-

* Letting others know about CovenantSpread the word

* SponsorshipEither children or their education

* VolunteeringContribute your skills

Letting others know about Covenant

At Covenant we ensure that every penny that is given to us goes directly out to the children. Unlike many other organizations, we do not spend money on 'promoting' ourselves to the public. This means that we rely heavily upon our supporters spreading the news about the work at Covenant, and this is one of the major ways in which you can help us. If you feel able, we would be very grateful if you could talk to friends, to people at work and to people at church about us. Or why not ask your local school to support us? To get you started, we have provided a brochure that you can download here (its very simple!). Why not print off a handful and leave them lying around in places where people who are interested will talk to you about it? By just getting us one more sponsor; you have done a great amount to contribute.

Pat regularly comes over to the UK to talk and share at meetings and in churches. If you would like to meet her, or ask her to share, please contact us; we will get back in touch, and do our best to accommodate you.

Sponsorship

Child Sponsorship

A second way to help is to sponsor a child, either individually or as a group. It costs us between £30 - £50 per month to look after each child, and we ask for a minimum of £20 per month from you. Yes, we know that it is quite a lot! But you know that every single penny is going to the children. In return, we will send you a picture and some information about the child that you are sponsoring, and send you a regular Covenant Home Newsletter. If possible, we will also try to match your preference for the age and gender of the child you sponsor. The children love receiving letters and photos from their sponsors - although this is entirely optional!

Education Sponsorship

Some people, we understand, are more interested in helping with education. We choose only the best schools to send the children to, and many of them end up leading in these schools, but understandably as a result we have quite a lot of school fees to pay. If you would prefer to sponsor a specific child through higher education, or to give to Covenant School, then this also is greatly welcomed.

If you are interested in sponsorship, please contact us.

Volunteering

We love having people to come live with us and contribute their skills as volunteers. There are great opportunities for you to help; befriend the children, teach, counsel, run church activities etc. Whatever you feel suits your capabilities! We can often find some room for you to live on site. What we do ask for is a minimum of 3 months, although you are welcome to apply for longer, as we have found from past experience that it takes this long for volunteers to feel that they have accomplished something. We will also ask you to come for an interview beforehand, and run a police check. Many volunteers have enjoyed their stay so much that they come out again and again, and bring their friends and families to see what is going on! If you are interested in volunteering, then please do contact us: we will get in touch and help you get the ball rolling!

At present we have enough long-term volunteers, but visitors are welcome to come during the months of April, August and December to provide extra hands during school holidays, to take the children swimming, for trips and walks etc and just to spend time with them as many have no-one to visit and are alone in the world.
