Organisation

The operation of the Home in Kenya is controlled by a Board of Trustees based in Kisumu. With the exception of Pat Botwright, the director and Cliff Meade, the chairman of the UK charity, all the Trustees are Kenyan drawn from the local area. The Home is registered as a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) with the Kenyan government and is recognised as one of the best run children’s homes in the Nyanza Province.

The NGO is supported in the UK by the registered charity Covenant Home Trust (Charity No. 1093484) whose chairman is Cliff Meade, based in Alcester, Warwickshire, England. Pat Botwright is based in Hingham, Norfolk and others who are based locally and in other areas of England they are all involved with work in Kenya and understand how the culture and the people work.

Covenant Home Trust supports the work of the Home by providing funds for the education and upkeep of the children. The registration of the Trust as a charity allows Gift Aid to be claimed on any donations made by UK taxpayers. The trustees of the UK Charity claim no expenses and 100% of money raised is forwarded to the NGO to be spent on education & general upkeep of the home & children.
